This is a pretty good article and I recommend actually going over there and reading it in full and understanding it, because this is a trend that is NOT going away.
As a society, I think we’ve gotten to the point where we can wrap our heads around the existence of female anti-feminists, but we haven’t gotten to that point yet for people of color who are open white supremacists! We need to stop wasting our time saying “omg I can’t believe it’s happening” so we can start fighting it. It’s really always been there—it’s just become more visible now.
Here are some of the simple reasons why this is happening/has happened/will keep happening.
Organized white supremacists are very skilled at racial manipulation and triangulation. Over the last century, they’ve field-tested ways of setting any minority against any other minority.
Misogyny, homophobia and transphobia are embedded in right wing politics as much as racism is, and for some individuals they’re more motivating than racism. They’d rather live in a social world where their race/ethnicity is hated but they also get their own license to hate who they want to hate.
There are many things that can be done at the cultural level to keep young men of color from falling into this bullshit. The most effective intervention is other young men of color standing up and arguing them down.

I find the twilight renaissance funny, and I’m all for eliminating cringe culture, but let’s remember that smeyer changed Quileute legends and beliefs to fit her narrative, gave animalistic/abusive traits to her Native characters, reinforcing the uncontrollable “savage” stereotype, made the “pure”, pale vampires constantly insult and antagonize the werewolves (whose land they were living on) for no reason, and overall wrote some pretty racist stuff about her Native characters
it’s always so funny learning about the Great Depression in grade school cuz they don’t ever talk about how latinx and Hispanic people were lowkey deported to Mexico even if they weren’t Mexican and how the depression was literally twice as worse for black people who were the first fired and last hired. like educators always report these tragedies by how they impacted whites UNLESS you are in a class like AA studies or something.
This is the truth. The experiences of poc have been outright erased from history in US public education. The white experience is labeled as universal in order to cover up white crimes and to keep white kids ignorant so that we uphold white supremacy throughout our lives.
the treatment of dorne in the show and the erasure of elia martell in rhaegar’s life is a direct issue of racism and the continuous othering and discriminating of brown women and middle eastern people so jot that down ladies

The importance of “water is wet” studies should not be understated. Because now you have a study to point to when someone who doesn’t already know this asks you for a source, as opposed to relying on anecdotal evidence or “common knowledge”.
