Anti-Trump Resisters and Organisers!

averyterrible:

bitcoitus:

smol-insurrection:

YOU NEED GOOD SECURITY CULTURE. The USA has one of the most powerful anti-radical police states in the world, and they WILL clamp down hard on any opposition, peaceful or otherwise.

Here’s some resources which might help:

privacytools, which should help teach you a bit about encryption and provide you with good starting points for making your communications that little bit harder to detect and read.

Download Tor, a browser which, with a little bit of extra caution will help keep a lot of what you do online secret.

Start using an encrypted messenger app on your phone. Telegram is the most popular, but its encryption is not the best. Personally I recommend using Wire (which also works as a desktop messenger app), or even WhatsApp functions acceptably.

Learn how to use and set up Proxies and a VPN

Start using an encrypted and independent email service. Many radical groups use riseup.net but they are very well known to security services and are monitored more closely than most. Their server ownership is also in question. I use Proton Mail but there are other services too.

When actually doing actions offline, learn how to maintain anonymity. Black Bloc is a good option for this (here’s a video on how to at a basic level, but the gist of it is to cover your face as much as possible, and to dress entirely in black), but there are other tactics such as all wearing boiler suits of the same colour, or simply destroying CCTV and other surveillance devices in the area you are operating in.

STAY SAFE. DON’T DO ANYTHING STUPID. WE NEED YOUR HELP.

I’m not sure about Tor

yeah, tor is almost certainly compromised by the US surveillance state, because they control most of the servers

Resources! Updated Jan. 2, 2016

k-pagination:

Can be found here on my blog

INFORMATION

The
majority of these are autism-related, but there are some other
disability-related resources listed. Many of these have both Facebook
pages, other social media, and websites, and I haven’t provided all
of the outlets for all of the pages.  Feel free to share these
links/the
link to my resource page.
I wrote only a handful of them myself, so if you credit anyone,
please do so from the original source.

Some
links will take you to specific posts/writings from blogs I have
posted on here. Some links are in multiple categories. If you have
suggestions for better organization/categories, tell me! If links are
broken, tell me. If you have problems with information in the links,
tell me. I try very hard to give
out accurate
and useful information.

Not
of all these have links yet. This is a significant work in progress.

Do yourself a favor. Learn to code. Here’s how.

videogaymer:

arabellesicardi:

boomeyer:

I’ve said this to my non-techie friends countless times. It’s no secret that being able to code makes you a better job applicant, and a better entrepreneur. Hell, one techie taught a homeless man to code and now that man is making his first mobile application.

Learning to code elevates your professional life, and makes you more knowledgeable about the massive changes taking place in the technology sector that are poised to have an immense influence on human life.

(note: yes I realize that 3/5 of those links were Google projects)

But most folks are intimidated by coding. And it does seem intimidating at first. But peel away the obscurity and the difficulty, and you start to learn that coding, at least at its basic level, is a very manageable, learnable skill.

There are a lot of resources out there to teach you. I’ve found a couple to be particularly successful. Here’s my list of resources for learning to code, sorted by difficulty:

Novice

Never written a line of code before? No worries. Just visit one of these fine resources and follow their high-level tutorials. You won’t get into the nitty-gritty, but don’t worry about it for now:

Dash – by General Assembly

CodeAcademy

w3 Tutorials (start at HTML on the left sidebar and work your way down)

Intermediate

Now that you’ve gone through a handful of basic tutorials, it’s time to learn the fundamentals of actual, real-life coding problems. I’ve found these resources to be solid:

Khan Academy

CodeAcademy – Ruby, Python, PHP

Difficult

If you’re here, you’re capable of building things. You know the primitives. You know the logic control statements. You’re ready to start making real stuff take shape. Here are some different types of resources to turn you from someone who knows how to code, into a full-fledged programmer.

Programming problems

Sometimes, the challenges in programming aren’t how to make a language do a task, but just how to do the task in general. Like how to find an item in a very large, sorted list, without checking each element. Here are some resources for those types of problems

Talentbuddy

TopCoder

Web Applications

If you learned Python, Django is an amazing platform for creating quick-and-easy web applications. I’d highly suggest the tutorial – it’s one of the best I’ve ever used, and you have a web app up and running in less than an hour.

Django Tutorial

I’ve never used Rails, but it’s a very popular and powerful framework for creating web applications using Ruby. I’d suggest going through their guide to start getting down-and-dirty with Rails development.

Rails Guide

If you know PHP, there’s an ocean of good stuff out there for you to learn how to make a full-fledged web application. Frameworks do a lot of work for you, and provide quick and easy guides to get up and running. I’d suggest the following:

Cake PHP Book

Symfony 2 – Get Started

Yii PHP – The Comprehensive Guide

Conclusion

If there’s one point I wanted to get across, it’s that it is easier than ever to learn to code. There are resources on every corner of the internet for potential programmers, and the benefits of learning even just the basics are monumental.

If you know of any additional, great resources that aren’t listed here, please feel free to tweet them to me @boomeyer.

Best of luck!

let’s all learn how to code at the same time

List of terrible rescue industry orgs so far

sexworkinfo:

POLARIS Project (one of the largest if not the largest player in the rescue industry, works with the state to criminalize voluntary sex workers, forces sex workers into low-paid garment manufacturing, engages in forced institutionalization of “rescued” sex workers, and much more)

Project ROSE (works with the State to criminalize sex workers and marginalized women in general under the guise of human trafficking)

Eve’s Angels (right-wing Christians who actively opposes sex workers rights while harassing sex workers at their places of employment)

Punjammies/the International Princess Project (forces sex workers into low-paid garment manufacturing via supporting raid and rescue operations)

OUR Rescue (run by the Mormon Church, uses ex navy seals to go ‘undercover’ in brothels and arrest sex workers)

The Cupcake Girls (patronizing christian org who think that giving strippers cupcakes is somehow activism)

Walk Free Foundation (white savior bullshit, tax dodge for mining billionaire Andrew ‘Twiggy’ Forrest)

SISHA (massively corrupt tax dodge, now defunct)

Obviously the harms done by these orgs vary widely which is one reason why I’ll be adding what they’re doing but for now I want to get the names down. Please feel free to reblog and add to this, i’ll be going through the #rescue-industry tag and adding some more names later today.

cosetties:

i really like the advice “write marginalized characters but don’t write about marginalization unless you experience it”

absolutely i think cis people should expand their horizons and write trans characters, but they shouldn’t write stories about being trans. likewise i think allistic / NT authors should write about autistic characters! but not stories about being autistic.

represent us. absolutely. but don’t tell our stories. let us do that.
