Who You Should Fight: The Gems

iamlapis:

Pearl: No. Why would you want to fight Pearl? She’s a renegade who fought against quartz soldiers. She knows how to use a s w o r d. A fucking sword. Do you know how to use a sword? Probably not. It’s not impossible to beat her, but what beef do you have? Even if she beat you, she’d feel bad and bring you tea afterwards.

Garnet: Yes. You’re going to lose. But who cares? It would be an honor to lose to Garnet. She’ll respect you for trying. Fight Garnet.

Amethyst: Maybe. If you beat her, then she might feel even worse about herself, and you don’t want that. But if she beats you, then she’d feel happy and then she’d probably ask if you wanted to get a donut or something- but if you let her win, she will know and then she’ll get mad. Chose wisely.

Peridot: Maybe. It will be fucking funny because she’s durable as hell and probably shorter than you, and not trained in hand to hand combat. If you want to get bit on the leg then go for it. But if you actually start to win she might use her metal powers and nobody wants to be impaled with metal. Let her win. She deserves to feel like a champ.

Lapis: No. I’m sorry- do you want to get punched across the Atlantic ocean? She would just lift her finger and the last thing you’d see was a giant water yaoi hand, then you’d meet your grave.

Jasper: Yes. Again, you’re going to lose unless you’re somehow a fusion. But everyone on this damn site seems to want Jasper to punch them in the face so go ahead. It’s what she lives for. But don’t do it unless you’re actually a worthy challenger because if you’re not she would probably just laugh at you. You’d probably like that too.

Rose: Yes. But only for fun. She’d scratch you and then feel bad and heal you. If you actually wanted to fight Rose seriously, you would also have to fight Pearl, and Rose literally shattered a Diamond so WYD.

Steven: No. Who are you. This poor boy has been through enough.

amethyst goes to whip jasper in the face in crack the whip: she catches it, yanks amethyst over and kicks her in the gut.

amethyst goes to whip jasper in the face in earthlings

her eyes go wide and she gasps

and just in case you thought this was her being surprised: I really don’t think this is the look of someone who’s surprised.

she looks scared of that whip

she didn’t suddenly lose her hand eye coordination. she missed grabbing it because she panicked.

and then amethyst hits her with a double whip and sends her flying back into the wall. (and jasper does make sounds like it actually hurt)

the next time amethyst goes to hit her in the face, jasper doesn’t even try to catch it. she keeps her hands clenched at her sides. she doesn’t even flinch.

and she just lets amethyst wail on her. she doesn’t say anything (or make any sounds for that matter). she doesn’t move an inch. she’s hit with that same double whip attack that sent her flying back moments ago, but she digs in her heels, moves back maybe a foot, and brushes it off like these attacks might as well be mosquito bites.

both times amethyst yells about how she’s going to fight her one on one before striking. the only difference that I can see is that in crack the whip, amethyst and jasper trash talk each other before the fight. they are basically of the same wavelength of “I am awesome and you suck and I’m going to kick your ass”. in earthlings they start out with the same trash talk, but before amethyst strikes she’s yelling at steven and peridot to stay out of her fight. she’s not yelling because quartzes are a bunch of loud mouths like she was last time, she’s yelling because she’s frustrated. and that was enough to throw jasper off her game.

we’ve only seen her do the “close up of eyes widening while she gasps” in two other scenes: once when she saw rose’s shield, and once when she saw alexandrite (as malachite, jailbreak made it clear that the top eyes belong to jasper). and in both of those contexts it makes sense: rose was the leader of the rebellion and as much as jasper likes to brag about how she’s a brute, it obvious that there’s going to be some traumatic memories attached to that. alexandrite makes sense since the crystal gems already beat her once.

but there is no reason for her to be startled in the one second and not in literally any other scene we’ve seen her get hit in the face. and there’s no reason why she’d fear amethyst at this point either. she still considers her weak, that she doesn’t have a chance, that she’s an inferior defect that has to be killed. she keeps up this attitude during the entire fight so it’s not like she suddenly realized how strong amethyst was. it’s not like amethyst even hurt her last time they fought. amethyst didn’t land a single hit last time they fought.

she’s not scared of amethyst, but in that second amethyst did remind her of someone or something that she’s afraid of.

hey remember this meta I made back in august after rewatching earthlings one too many times?? I am reblogging it again because of reasons… completely innocent reasons… that have nothing to do with these spoilers I am putting under a cut until the episode officially airs on tv. nope. no siree.

gemcosmetics:

Hello, everyone! a quick introductory post for you all- I personally adore makeup, skin care products, etc, and thought it’d be fun to compile different products that remind me of specific gems.

anyone is welcome to request a post, be it for your gemsona, your favorite canon gem, your kinself(provided that kinself is a gem, of course!), or just a gemstone that you think looks really cool and would look pretty as assorted makeup products.
