Can you explain the difference between having DID and being a median or multiple?

I don’t think there’s really a set in stone difference? they have different associations so some people only use one or the other for themselves, but I think its kinda like bisexual vs polysexual- some ppl id as both, some are rly attached to one or another, some don’t care..
