I think I might be part of a system but idk, would you mind explaining what being in one feels like? You don’t have to if its arude question but I feel like it would help to hear from part of a system idk

it’s not rude at all nonny don’t worry

im not rly sure how to answer this tho? like it depends on what type of system(median, multiple, both, other..) you mean

for median(also known as ‘the only kind of system i have firsthand experience w/ being part of’), its like.. you’re you, but there’s also someone else who isn’t rly separate, but isn’t 100% just you in a certain mood?

under a cut for length

i’m a big fan of morbid humor; it’s a rly good coping mechanism.

on the other hand, i *am* lynx’s coping mechanism(well, more accurately we’re both the coping mechanism of someone who hasn’t rly existed in years), albeit with my own life outside of that, so morbid stuff isn’t lynx’s thing at all.

this often comes up as simply “i like X because it’s morbid, lynx hates X because.. it’s morbid”. even though we’re not totally separate. it’s confusing, idk

if your ‘personality faucets’ have or want names, semi-independent likes or dislikes, friends, etc, then it’s usually a good sign that you’re part of a system.

also, (dis)liking things for different reasons. i haven’t run into that much w/ lynx yet, but i think it’s a thing for other systems

u were talking about “losing fluid” and as an emetophobic who dealt with stomach problems a lot as a child i remembered that gatorade helps (bc electrolytes) and otter pops! (im not sure what theyre called outside california, theyre the popscicle kind of things that come from the plastic tube thing!) and drinking tiny sips of warm flat coca cola or sprite! hope u feel better soon!

I’m an Oregonian so I’m close enough to know what otter pops are c:
thank you so much for the tips! I’ll be sure to stock up on Gatorade n maybe otter pops if I can find them

Addictive Personality Disorder? I tried googling it and got nothing. What is it?

it seems to go more commonly by just Addictive Personality or something under the umbrella of impulse control disorders

the general idea being that addiction, at least for some folks, isn’t so much that a particular substance/behavior got them addicted, but that they’re predisposed towards addiction and that particular substance/behavior was just what they picked to fill that craving

symptoms include very low/nonexistent stress tolerance, moderate-severe issues with delayed gratification, probably getting easily hooked on things that aren’t considered highly addictive(this one is just me guessing btw)

so basically if ur an addict and its not 100% purely physical then u have p good odds of having addictive personality disorder
